Thomas and Christina trained together as furniture designers and
makers at Rycotewood College in Thame in the early 1990’s.
The course focussed on traditional methods and hand tools, with
an emphasis on the designs and ethos of the Art and Crafts movement
of the late 19th century.
Their first shared workshop was on a farm; they rented a milking
shed with a friend and spent a happy week spray blasting compacted
cow poo off the floor, and went on to experiment with making totem
poles, one off pieces of furniture, and small batch products.
Thomas spent several years in the wilderness of other people’s
furniture workshops learning the trade on other people’s time
and materials. With lots of experience under his belt, Thomas established
Simple Kitchens in 1998. The business has gone from strength to
strength - providing customers with quality kitchens and furniture,
and friendly, professional service ever since. After continuing
her career in Diabetes research and looking after their young family,
Christina finally re-joined Thomas in Simple Kitchens in 2010.
Thomas and Christina have never lost their love of design –
or of rising to meet the challenge of designing kitchens and furniture
with the perfect balance of form and function.
Always friendly, always professional
